A rare digital opportunity to experience one of ballet’s leading artists up close - wherever you are in the world!
This 80-minute webinar, filmed live, blends performance, storytelling, conversation, and demonstration in an innovative new format, bringing audiences closer than ever to the artistry of The Royal Ballet Principal, Matthew Ball.
This unique event traces Matthew’s journey from his early life in Liverpool to his defining roles on the stage of Covent Garden, as he shares candid reflections on inspiration, resilience, and the realities of a life in dance.
The evening includes exclusive performances of work created by Matthew Ball, alongside special guest appearances from Royal Ballet Soloists Mariko Sasaki and Luca Acri, offering a first hand insight into the creative process behind each work.
Audiences also hear from internationally renowned choreographer Kim Brandstrup, a regular collaborator and mentor figure, who poses deeper creative questions in a dedicated segment.
Viewers experience the acclaimed “Walk & Talk” format, where Matthew speaks his movement in real time, pairing step-by-step demonstration with personal insight drawn from his interpretation of Albrecht in Giselle.
Hosted by Royal Ballet Principal Character Artist Kristen McNally, the event also features a recorded audience Q&A, capturing the immediacy and response of the live evening.
An intimate, thoughtful, and access-driven digital event, An Evening With Matthew Ball has been designed from the ground up to bring audiences closer than ever to the artist behind the roles.

"An Evening with Matthew Ball resists easy categorisation, neither performance not talk, it functions as a self potrait in motion"
